Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Community and Liaison Social Worker to join our team at BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services in Kamloops, BC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to identify their needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide case coordination and advocacy services to clients and their families, ensuring seamless transitions between healthcare providers and community resources.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of client interactions and treatment plans, adhering to regulatory requirements and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide clinical services, information, and support to clients, including short-term follow-up and monitoring of treatment outcomes.
  • Facilitate access to psychiatric and social services through referrals, site visits, and home visits, as needed.
  • Participate in pre-release planning conferences and consult with clinical teams to determine client needs and develop strategies for community reintegration.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of recent experience working in a mental health setting, with a focus on forensic social work.
  • Full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW) is required.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Broad knowledge of social work theory and forensic psychiatric social work practice.
  • Experience working with Indigenous populations and understanding of Indigenous-specific anti-racism initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Bill C30 and the Provincial Court system.
  • Understanding of psychopharmacology and its applications in treatment planning.
