Position Overview

Under the general oversight of the Resident Care Manager, RN, and/or LPN, the Personal Health Assistant plays a vital role within the health care team, aiding in resident support and delivering fundamental care as instructed. This position reflects a strong commitment to the vision, values, and objectives of River Park Gardens.

Experience

  • Prior experience in resident care is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • A minimum of Grade 10 education, in accordance with Manitoba standards, is required.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Health Care Aide program is mandatory.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Training will be provided during the probationary period for the following: Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), and Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions). Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of health care team members, as well as regional, site, and house policies and procedures.
  • Proficient command of the English language (both spoken and written) is essential.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are proficient in an Indigenous language and/or possess knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
  • General skills and capabilities to execute all tasks and responsibilities pertinent to the role.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to identify and pursue opportunities for self-improvement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to manage multiple demands simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate as a team member and seek assistance when necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • This position entails significant physical activity, including lifting, transferring, and transporting residents and equipment.
