Job Summary
Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is seeking a skilled Locomotive Mechanic to join our team. As a Locomotive Mechanic, you will be responsible for the inspection and maintenance of diesel locomotives in accordance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform locomotive inspections, including air brake cleaning and testing, in accordance with regulations and company policy.
- Perform periodic service on locomotives, including oil changes, turbo inspections, fueling, and greasing couplings and fittings.
- Replace locomotive and diesel engine components, including wheels, trucks, traction motors, and heating equipment.
- Handle hazardous and non-hazardous waste products.
- Perform daily service of locomotive units, including fueling, watering, lubricating, and oiling.
- Create reports for supervisors and the mechanical department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience or diploma in electro mechanics or diesel mechanics (asset).
- Experience as a Locomotive Mechanic (asset).
- Able to work alone or in a team, safely.
- Mechanical aptitudes.
- Responsible and able to evolve in a multidisciplinary atmosphere.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
