Job Title: Locomotive Mechanic

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locomotive Mechanic to join our team at Genesee & Wyoming Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection and maintenance of diesel locomotives in accordance with various regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular inspections of diesel locomotives to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including air brake cleaning and testing, oil changes, and lubrication.
  • Replace locomotive and diesel engine components, such as wheels, traction motors, and heating equipment.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste products.
  • Prepare daily service reports for supervisors and the mechanical department.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience or diploma in electro-mechanics or diesel mechanics (asset).
  • Experience as a Locomotive Mechanic (asset).
  • Able to work safely and effectively in a team environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
