Position Overview

The Accounts Payable division is seeking a professional adept in managing merchandise return claims from suppliers. This role is crucial for securing credits and conducting thorough reconciliations of claims and credits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process supplier merchandise return claims (debit memo/RMF) received from retail locations.
  • Verify that all necessary documentation related to return claims is available.
  • Maintain a comprehensive log of claims in the master claim file.
  • Engage with suppliers to ensure the collection of all due credits.
  • Address and reconcile discrepancies between received credits and claimed amounts.
  • Document credits identified in the weekly Visa report from stores.
  • Implement monthly gross profit adjustments.
  • Resolve complex variances in claim/credit reconciliations by liaising with operations managers and distribution centers.
  • Conduct large returns and credit reconciliations, requiring proficiency in Excel.
  • Assist in preparing for inventory cut-offs at stores, ensuring all claims are accounted for and supporting the Specialized Inventory Clerk in finalizing the cut-off file.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • AEC, DEP, or equivalent, along with 3 to 5 years of experience in a high-volume setting, particularly in collections and accounts payable.
  • Bilingual proficiency in written and spoken communication.
  • Understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills within established guidelines.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
