Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at FortisBC. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of our electrical substations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead multi-discipline teams to optimize maintenance, prevent failures, and ensure maximum continuity of service for our customers.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective solutions for maintenance and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Prepare detailed commissioning packages to support our capital plan.
  • Participate in engineering investigations to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
  • Assess and report safety hazards associated with maintenance of equipment.
  • Provide operational support to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain computerized maintenance management tools.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, plus 2-7 years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
  • Knowledge and understanding of transmission, distribution, and station components and their functions within an electrical utility environment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated field experience, including equipment testing and commissioning.
  • General understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering and construction concepts.
  • Ability to develop computer models and equipment for validity and reliability.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with various commonly used software such as MS Office, MS-Project, and SharePoint.
