Our client, a dynamic manufacturer of retail products, is seeking a Warehouse Operations Senior Manager to oversee comprehensive warehouse functions, including receiving, storage, inventory oversight, order processing, and distribution. This position demands exceptional leadership abilities, organizational acumen, and a thorough grasp of inventory management best practices. The successful candidate will be passionate about enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and safety while fostering a collaborative and satisfying work environment for their team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the creation and execution of standardized warehouse policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure operational consistency and efficiency. Regularly assess and refine processes to align with evolving business needs and industry standards.
- Provide robust leadership and direction to warehouse staff, including supervisors, team leaders, and frontline employees. Cultivate a culture of accountability, teamwork, and ongoing improvement. Conduct regular performance assessments, offer constructive feedback, and identify training and development opportunities.
- Formulate and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and guarantee product availability to meet production timelines and customer requirements. Establish inventory control measures, such as cycle counting and min-max planning, to minimize stockouts, overstock, and obsolescence.
- Oversee the receipt and inspection of incoming materials and products, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards. Collaborate with suppliers and logistics partners to resolve discrepancies and address issues related to damaged or non-conforming items.
- Collaborate with other site leaders to support health and safety initiatives and the development of various Health, Safety, & Environment programs.
- Establish and enforce effective inventory control protocols to accurately monitor inventory movements. Leverage warehouse management systems and technologies to automate processes and enhance accuracy.
- Assess warehouse layout, shelving configurations, and storage systems to maximize space utilization, accessibility, and operational efficiency. Implement layout modifications, racking enhancements, and slotting strategies to accommodate growth, seasonal changes, and product mix variations.
- Develop and manage the warehouse operating budget, including expense forecasting, labor costs, equipment maintenance, and capital expenditures. Monitor budget variances, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement cost control measures to meet financial objectives and optimize resource allocation.
- Support various stakeholders with inventory management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in contract management, dispute resolution, and vendor selection and contract negotiations as needed.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory accuracy, order fill rates, on-time delivery, and labor productivity to evaluate warehouse performance and identify improvement areas. Analyze data trends, root causes, and performance metrics to develop action plans and drive operational excellence.
- Ensure site standard operating procedures (SOPs) are current, accurate, and compliant.
- Provide analytical reporting for various stakeholders on operational KPIs, projects, budgets, and business cases.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders in developing strategic plans.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in warehouse management, preferably within a manufacturing context.
- At least 5 years of experience as a team and department leader, with a proven ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Experience with ERP systems and/or other inventory management software.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Strong vendor management, negotiation, and conflict resolution capabilities.
- Proficiency in all MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
