About the Job

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership and management skills. As a Shop Manager with the Government of Canada - Western, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a retail store.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a team of staff to ensure excellent customer service and efficient store operations
  • Conduct market research and analyze sales data to inform business decisions
  • Determine merchandise and services to be sold, and implement pricing and credit policies
  • Locate and procure merchandise for resale, and develop marketing strategies to drive sales
  • Plan and manage budgets, monitor revenues and expenses, and determine staffing requirements
  • Resolve customer complaints and supply shortages, and recruit and supervise staff and/or volunteers
  • Oversee payroll administration, conduct performance reviews, and supervise office and volunteer staff
  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate daily operations to ensure the store meets its sales and customer service targets

Working Conditions

  • Work is typically performed in a retail store environment
  • May require standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, and working in a fast-paced environment

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a retail management role
