Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Hospitalist Physician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Hospitalist, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care to patients admitted to the hospitalist service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, ensuring that patients are appropriately notified and consulted regarding results in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate care with members of the interprofessional team, including regular interdisciplinary team meetings, quality rounds, and quality reviews.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to delivering the highest quality care and maintaining competence.
  • Participate in systemic quality process evaluation and improvement, including patient safety and practice audit.
  • Attend site-based physician meetings as outlined by the Head, Department of Family Practice, Central Zone.
Work Environment

Dartmouth General Hospital is an acute care hospital with 24-hour emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services. The hospital has 187 inpatient beds and 8 intensive care unit beds, and offers a range of services, including anesthesiology, respiratory services, emergency medicine, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, and more.

Requirements
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
  • Flexibility in scheduling, with options for full-time, part-time, or locum positions.
  • Ability to participate in weekend call (1:4 for full-time) and overnight call (2 shifts/month for full-time).
