Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee project functions throughout the lifecycle of high voltage electrical systems and Protection and Control (P&C) systems at various facilities.
  • Design, assess, and execute project management tasks in alignment with Hydro Ottawa's established protocols and standards.
  • Prepare and manage requests for proposals, defining the scope of work to facilitate the evaluation and administration of contracts.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of capital project plans, and oversee the installation of P&C and SCADA systems, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Conduct forensic analysis of power system faults and provide troubleshooting for protective equipment.
  • Deliver technical guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the safe and timely execution of projects.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety standards and legal regulations related to project execution.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and methodologies relevant to P&C and SCADA systems.
  • Contribute to the development of technical standards and maintenance schedules.
  • Perform energy audits and power factor analyses for commercial and industrial clients.
  • Manage and update information systems related to maintenance and operational records.
  • Provide training and presentations to enhance knowledge within the organization.
  • Analyze and maintain project databases and coordination reports.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure the effective commissioning and documentation of telemetry and control systems.
  • Manage work plans for the maintenance of station assets, ensuring all equipment operates efficiently.
  • Investigate power quality insurance claims and perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical Technology with practical experience in utility or industrial settings, specifically in substation maintenance and testing.
  • Certification as an Electrical Technologist or the ability to obtain it within two years.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in electrical distribution or industrial environments, focusing on maintenance and project management.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including calculus and trigonometry, applied to electrical theory.
  • In-depth knowledge of power distribution systems and equipment, including relay protections and communication schemes.
  • Proficiency in software applications relevant to electrical engineering and project management.

Additional Requirements

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; bilingualism is an asset.
  • Valid Class G driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain Government of Canada security clearance.
