Position Summary: We are currently seeking a proficient Freight Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team in Hamilton, Ontario. This mid-level role is essential for the effective coordination and management of freight operations, ensuring that we meet our clients' diverse needs. Your role will be pivotal in supporting our rapidly expanding Operations team, where clear communication and collaboration with colleagues and partners will be vital for success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishing and maintaining robust relationships with vendors
- Negotiating terms with carriers and shipping partners
- Inputting data into our systems to create load documentation
- Monitoring shipments to ensure timely pickups and deliveries
- Preparing necessary shipping paperwork
- Engaging in professional communication with clients and carriers
- Assisting with minor accounting tasks and data management
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics or transportation, preferably in a 3PL setting
- Knowledge of cross-border transportation across the US, Mexico, and Canada, including OTR truckload, dry van, flatbed, and reefer services
- Strong organizational and time management skills with an emphasis on prioritization
- High School diploma required
- Adaptability to evolving customer data processes and compliance with changes
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and multitasking skills
- Professional phone etiquette
- Outgoing personality with high energy and flexibility
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic, coupled with a sense of enjoyment in the role
