Position Summary:
The Retail Sales Specialist (RSS) is tasked with servicing and selling to retail accounts within a designated territory to ensure client standards are met and sales volume is increased. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, ambitious, and driven to succeed. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence key decision-makers at the store level are essential. Excellent organizational skills and the capability to work independently are also required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Distribution:
- Meet client and company objectives by maintaining full distribution of all authorized SKUs.
Customer Relations:
- Effectively communicate with both internal management and external customers.
Sales:
- Execute live orders at store level for multiple clients in over 50% of their stores monthly.
- Increase sales volume through promotional activities, display building, and planogram adjustments as needed.
- Consistently suggest and fulfill orders for new and out-of-stock items.
Merchandising:
- Ensure all authorized client items on the shelf have accurate tags and remove unsaleable or expired products.
Shelf Standards:
- Work to meet client shelf schematic standards, including tagging, rotating, and placing POS materials.
Territory Management:
- Achieve client goals by effectively managing stores within your territory and executing projects and standards.
- Enhance brand representation through the establishment and maintenance of customer and client relationships.
Administration:
- Complete accurate and timely paperwork, including reports, recaps, itineraries, timesheets, and expense reports.
Travel Requirements:
While travel is not a primary duty of this role, driving is essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience preferred.
0-2 years of experience in retail, client services, or food brokerage.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Word, Excel, and Internet usage.
- Strong follow-up abilities.
- Mathematical and analytical skills.
Physical Requirements:
Incumbents must be able to perform essential job functions, which may include working in various environments such as offices, retail stores, or warehouses. The role typically requires engaging in considerable physical activity, including lifting or pushing up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and working in cold conditions (e.g., refrigerated sections). Proper safety practices when handling products are essential.
