About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at DTOC III Long Term Care LP. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality meals to our residents, ensuring their nutritional needs are met and their dining experience is exceptional.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals according to our menu plan and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure that meals are presented in an appealing and appetizing manner.
  • Follow established cleaning procedures to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.
  • Assist in the First In First Out process of food and supply products.
  • Work collaboratively with other Food Services staff and departments to achieve our goals.
Qualifications
  • Chef training or culinary management diploma/certificate from a recognized institution (preferred).
  • Or a certificate of qualification in the trade of Cook or Institutional Cook from a recognized authority (preferred).
  • Or, in the reasonable opinion of the Home, have appropriate skills, knowledge, and experience in institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality cooking.
  • Food Handlers Certification from a recognized agency.
  • Good communication and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to understand proper preparation techniques and use commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Skilled cooking work experience involving the preparation of complex foods.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide evidence of being focused on people's feelings when interacting and turning tasks into positive social interactions.
  • Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing (within the last six months or within 14 days upon hire) or a chest X-ray (within the last year), as per Public Health requirements.
  • Two supervisory references required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment.
