Job Summary

UBC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Programmer Analyst to join its IT team. As a key member of the Integrated Renewal Program (IRP) Student team, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of a new student information system using Workday.

The successful candidate will lead the analysis, design, and review of existing or proposed system features and requirements, and devise computer programs, systems, and related procedures. You will work closely with the UBC IT Enterprise Identity and Access Management team (IAM) and provide technical leadership in the analysis and review of existing or proposed system features and integration, security, scalability, and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the ongoing planning and development of systems enhancements in support of current or new enterprise services.
  • Investigate, analyze, and remain current with industry technology trends that would benefit Applications implementations.
  • Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 operational support for production systems, including troubleshooting system problem reports, resolving issues with production systems, defining operational support processes, and providing end-user support as required.
  • Positively represent UBC IT in the community, act as a key resource for collaboration within and across project teams, and within the application developer community on campus.
  • Work with UBC IT Infrastructure staff to ensure that appropriate environment, hardware, and software requirements are purchased, installed, and configured to support Applications projects.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of eight years of related experience, including at least two years of managerial experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Java, C#, Python, and Ruby, as well as SailPoint IIQ identity security software, Git, Gradle, Spring, IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, Jenkins, Bash script, Beanshell, REST API development, SQL, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS public cloud services, AWS Linux, and Red Hat.
  • Working knowledge of SaaS applications and security frameworks, as well as familiarity with IAM services such as Shibboleth/SAML, OIDC, CAS, myVPN, Apache Tomcat, DUO Multi-factor Authentication, and CyberArk Privileged Access Management.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
