Position Overview:
The Skilled Lead Hand plays a crucial role in overseeing the effective functioning of processing lines, aiming for optimal efficiency and product yield. This position demands adherence to both company and client standards while strictly following established food safety and quality protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the proper setup of machinery, availability of materials, and adherence to production timelines, yield targets, and customer requirements. Conduct necessary inspections on equipment, ingredients, packaging, and processing methods.
- Engage in training initiatives related to food safety, HACCP standards, product quality expectations, and equipment/process technology.
- Organize and supervise the workforce, ensuring equitable job rotation and compliance with operational procedures. Provide ongoing feedback to team members and management regarding performance.
- Facilitate training for new employees on processing techniques, product quality standards, safety measures, and hygiene practices.
- Maintain precise production documentation.
- Optimize operational efficiencies, reduce downtime through effective changeovers, address minor mechanical issues, and promptly report significant equipment concerns.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work area, collaborating closely with utility personnel.
- Contribute to the overall health and safety of the team, ensuring compliance with established company policies.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift heavy items, including bags weighing up to 25kg.
- Familiarity with food safety and HACCP principles.
- Dependable with a strong attendance record.
- Proficient in mathematical calculations and possesses mechanical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capable of working effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Possession of a valid forklift/hand truck certification.
