The Earth Sciences and Engineering division focuses on site planning, spatial data analysis, digital terrain modeling, subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting, and water resource management through our specialized knowledge in geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development.
The Hatch Earth Sciences and Engineering (ESE) group is in search of a motivated Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our engineering team, with flexibility in location.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork abilities and will play a crucial role in delivering technical excellence across a diverse range of complex projects.
Essential qualifications include:
- A robust technical foundation in Civil Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics.
- Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills.
Responsibilities will encompass:
- Conducting hydrotechnical engineering analyses and designs in collaboration with Civil and Geotechnical Engineers, including design event estimation, river flow regime studies, dam designs, and hydraulic structure designs.
- Preparing comprehensive technical reports, drawings, specifications, and relevant correspondence.
- Supporting due diligence tasks associated with hydropower project financing and acquisitions.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water Resources and/or Civil Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics.
- 10+ years of post-graduation experience in Hydrotechnical Engineering, with at least 5 years in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
- Experience in various Civil Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics applications, including flood risk analysis, hydropower development, and dam safety.
- Proficiency in specialized hydrologic modeling tools and open-channel hydraulics modeling.
- Experience in dam safety analyses in accordance with established guidelines.
The candidate should be:
- Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Possessing a history of successful business development.
- Experienced in consulting engineering.
- Multilingual capabilities, particularly in Spanish and French, are advantageous.
