HSQE Specialist

As a HSQE Specialist, you will be part of a fast-paced, growing organization that supports all communities in which we operate.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the development and implementation of H&S policies and procedures.
- Identify H&S risks and recommend changes to internal and external safety practices.
- Conduct incident investigations and provide data to create preventative and proactive measures.
- Prepare and manage claim documentation for underwriting incidents.
- Collaborate with ORM and Operations to facilitate and lead company safety standards and annual objectives.
- Perform internal and external audits to provide recommendations for corrective findings.
- Facilitate operational risk assessments.
- Provide onboarding orientation to new hires.
- Implement programs to promote crew wellbeing.
- Occasionally provide safety training, including First Aid & CPR, Confined Space Entry, and Fall protection.
- Visit company vessels to evaluate and examine current H&S measures.
- Degree or Diploma in H&S or related field.
- Five years of experience in the industrial or transportation industry.
- Knowledge of federal health and safety regulatory requirements.
- Strong ability to interpret and apply regulatory standards to the marine industry.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to investigate and resolve workplace incidents.
- Certified trainer or experience in providing training, such as First Aid & CPR, is considered an asset.
- Auditing capabilities in the federal HSE environment are considered an asset.
- Experience in the marine industry is considered an asset.
- Burlington head office with some travel to company vessels and warehouse(s).
- Additional hours may be required dependent on operational demand.
- Hybrid work schedule upon successful completion of onboarding.
