We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Market Development and Growth to join our commercial team at Hydrostor Inc. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company's strategic growth initiatives, primarily focusing on international power market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to the Business Development team, overseeing a range of opportunities and collaborating with origination leads to build and manage relationships with utilities, developers, and other key industrial stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Strategies: Work closely with regulatory leads to develop market-specific regulatory strategies and navigate regulatory interventions and proceedings.
  • Market Analysis and Development: Identify target markets and advance opportunities in designated markets, conducting comprehensive analysis on prospective projects and executing early-stage development activities such as land control, permitting, geology and other critical factors.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis on local power market dynamics, macroeconomic trends, and other factors influencing power markets. Lead complex financial analyses for prospective projects, including pricing of offtake agreements for renewable paired and stand-alone long-duration energy storage projects.
  • Partnership Development: Establish and nurture partnerships and stakeholder relationships essential for successful commercial outcomes.
  • Market Entry Strategies: Devise market entry strategies for new jurisdictions, considering local power market conditions, regulatory landscape, customer base, political forces, and other influencing factors.
  • Commercial Negotiations: Play a key role in the preparation and negotiation of term sheets and definitive agreements with development partners and other counterparties.
  • Due Diligence: Assist in due diligence processes associated with onboarding new partners.
  • Business Development Strategy: Prepare compelling pitches for prospective clients and contribute to the overall business development strategy.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field (required); MBA or advanced degree (preferred).
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in business development, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Proven experience in the power industry, with a focus on early-stage development of renewable energy, energy storage, or related sectors.
  • Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of North American power markets and regulatory landscapes.
  • Financial Analysis: Demonstrated success in leading complex financial analyses for power projects, including pricing of power purchase agreements.
  • Partnership Development: Experience in establishing and managing partnerships, with a track record of successful commercial outcomes.
  • Negotiation Skills: Exceptional negotiation and deal-making skills.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Ability to navigate and influence within a complex regulatory environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Network: Existing network and relationships within the International (with a focus on Europe, Middle East & Africa region as well as the Americas) power industry.
  • Market Entry Strategies: Experience in developing and executing market entry strategies.
  • Long-Duration Storage: Familiarity with long-duration storage technologies.
