Telesat, with its headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, operates globally with various offices and facilities.
The **Director of Mission Assurance** will collaborate closely with the Vice President of Lightspeed Program Delivery to oversee all aspects of Mission Assurance for the program. This role involves planning and managing the Mission Assurance Organization, as well as developing and maintaining a robust system for managing processes essential to achieving program success, including quality assurance protocols. The Director will lead a team of Mission Assurance specialists, focusing on strategic alignment with company goals, team motivation, professional development, and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities- Articulate a clear vision for achieving Mission Success within the program.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across Telesat Lightspeed segments to implement and monitor processes that ensure Mission Success.
- Establish and uphold a comprehensive communication system for managing and linking critical processes.
- Partner with the Senior Manager of Lightspeed Program Delivery to provide training on established processes.
- Advise senior management on Mission Assurance communications and strategies.
- Collaborate with the Director of the Lightspeed Program Management Office to ensure effective risk management practices.
- Oversee program quality processes, including:
- Quality and Nonconformity Reporting and Resolution
- Corrective and Preventive Actions
- Software Assurance
- Operational Quality
- Independent reviews, audits, and investigations
- Bachelor's degree in engineering; a Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering Management is preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in engineering development, particularly in hardware and software, with a focus on communications or satellite technologies.
- At least 5 years of managerial experience in Mission Assurance.
- Proven ability to evaluate technical status and challenges in hardware, software, and operational contexts.
- Expertise in failure analysis, anomaly investigation, corrective actions, preventive measures, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of engaging with engineers, stakeholders, senior management, and staff.
- Ability to convey complex status and issues clearly and concisely.
- Strong organizational capabilities and skills in influence management to facilitate solutions across various teams.
- A collaborative team player with a proactive and independent work ethic.
- Demonstrated flexibility, open-mindedness, and strong interpersonal skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project, Word, Visio, PowerPoint) and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
- This role will significantly influence the direction of the Telesat Lightspeed program, including talent acquisition and fostering a positive work environment while leveraging extensive expertise to guide decisions.
- The position includes oversight of direct reports.
