As an Environmental Scientist or Technologist, you will join our Fort St John, BC as part of our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:

• Perform GW monitoring, EM surveys, drilling, remediation and reclamation projects

• Groundwater monitoring can include k-tests, elevation surveys, and sampling using a variety of methods (ie, peristaltic pumps, hydrasleeves, bailers, etc)

• Drilling can include installing GW monitoring wells and supervising a variety of drilling types in soil and bedrock (ie. solid stem, hollow stem, air rotary)

• Remediation can include supervising remedial excavations and trucking, confirmatory sampling and operating remediation systems

• Reclamation can include supervising reclamation equipment and performing reclamation assessments on agricultural and crown land (ie Schedule B assessments)

• Supervise and coordinate field contractors and equipment for a variety of projects

• Prepare for ground disturbance including submitting One Calls, filling out ground disturbance packages and supervising line locators and hydrovacs

• Communicate with project managers and technical advisors regarding project progress, execution and scope changes

• Support and mentor junior professionals including reviewing work plans, providing on the job training in the field, and responding to questions

• Learn, understand, and apply BC regulations related to assessment, remediation and reclamation of oil and gas sites and ensure regulatory requirements are met as part of project execution.

• This role will require travel throughout Northeastern British Columbia (approximately 70% of time will be in the field)

What We Are Looking For

• Minimum 3 years of previous experience with assessment, remediation, and reclamation projects managing subcontractor crews and equipment.

• A degree or technical diploma in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, or engineering

• Eligibility for registration in or maintaining a good standing in a professional organization

• A working knowledge of British Columbia’s Contaminated Sites Regulations, with specific knowledge of their application under the Oil and Gas Commission

• Exhibit a strong safety mindset

• Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills

• Ability to provide technical direction and mentorship to more junior professionals

• Experience as a ground disturbance supervisor

• Familiarity with spill response would be an asset

• A valid and clean driver’s license with no restrictions.
