About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic to join our team at Angus Consulting Management Limited. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our HVAC and refrigeration systems across various sites in the GTA region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and code specifications to perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Perform basic inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems, logging results and generating reports as required.
  • Operate, maintain, service, repair, install, and replace HVAC and refrigeration equipment, components, and parts across all sites.
  • Install wiring and cabling to connect components and equipment to an electric power supply and calibrate related controls.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, and connect pipe to functional components and utilities.
  • Work with vendors to organize work, subtrades, parts, and material logistics.
  • Prepare work estimates, including material, rentals, labor, and other costs, to complete jobs efficiently.
  • Operate DDC software to monitor and adjust systems as needed, following up on alerts and alarms.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation as required.
  • Review heat and cooling requirements, comparing and recommending modifications to achieve optimal system effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Utilize a work order management system to manage and accurately record work effort.
  • Make recommendations on replacement of end-of-life or failed systems and materials.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and corrective maintenance when required.
  • Maintain assigned tools and equipment to ensure availability in a safe operating condition.
  • Ensure safe seasonal start-ups and shutdowns of HVAC systems, including cooling towers, pumps, AHU coils, and associated controls.
  • Perform start-ups and shutdowns of major building equipment as required.
  • Participate in meetings as required.
  • Travel and work at various sites.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working on HVAC/Refrigeration equipment.
  • Valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning license.
  • Ability to be on-call as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work at multiple locations.
  • Availability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ontario Freon Handling (ODP) license.
  • Ability to obtain G1 or G2 gas ticket (preference given to candidates with existing experience or currently in the process of obtaining).
  • Boiler experience and service of boilers, maintenance on boilers, and boiler repairs.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in accountability, judgment, decision-making, problem-solving, and effective communication.
  • Proven ability to interact with clients, tenants, management, and staff.
  • Proven ability to foster and develop relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Preference for candidates with experience preparing cost estimates and generating add-on work.
