Job Overview:
The role involves the thorough cleaning, setup, and operation of manufacturing equipment as part of the compounding process for pharmaceutical creams, ointments, gels, and liquids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) documentation, including Batch Records, cleaning logs, and other relevant manufacturing records.
- Adhere to safety protocols and report any workplace incidents. Assist in enhancing equipment safety procedures as needed. Sanitize compounding areas and equipment.
- Compound batches according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Master Formulas, promptly reporting any discrepancies to the compounding supervisor.
- Dispense raw materials as necessary.
- Conduct accurate inventory management using SAP.
- Maintain an organized and clean workspace, familiar with 5S methodologies and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and processes.
- Work diligently and accurately, ensuring tasks and documentation are completed correctly on the first attempt.
- Complete all GMP documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Fulfill all training requirements and maintain personal training records.
- Participate in Non-Conformance Investigations as needed.
- Execute Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
- Initiate and follow through on actions required to finalize Change Controls.
- Participate in Internal, Customer, and Regulatory Audits.
- Assist in training new compounders.
- Perform startup and shutdown procedures for all manufacturing vessels.
- Conduct minor repairs on equipment and facilities as necessary.
- Verify equipment functionality (scales, mixers, pH meters) according to established schedules.
- May assist Validation or Pharmaceutical Technology teams with new formulations and scale-ups.
- Notify supervisors of low inventory levels for equipment parts and compounding supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong mathematical abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using tablets and training on related software (MES, SAP).
- Excellent verbal communication skills for daily interactions with team members.
- Previous experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting is preferred.
Education and Experience:
- A university degree with 1-2 years of relevant technical training experience.
- Post-secondary education in a scientific discipline is preferred, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a pharmaceutical environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to actively listen and receive coaching and training.
- A forklift license is preferred.
Problem Solving:
Any issues impacting GMP compliance will be assessed immediately in collaboration with the supervisor and Quality Assurance.
Working Conditions:
- Overtime may be required to address urgent tasks, potentially including weekends.
- Shift work may be necessary, including weekends.
- Must be physically fit and able to lift at least 25 kg.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform bending and squatting tasks throughout the workday.
- Use of GMP garments and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
