Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing therapeutic, diagnostic, technical, and teaching respiratory therapy services to patients.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manager (or designate), the incumbent will provide respiratory therapy services consistent with discipline and professional standards while adhering to the employer's mission, values, and management philosophy.

Responsibilities
  • Provide therapeutic, diagnostic, technical, and teaching respiratory therapy services to patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans for patients.
  • Conduct respiratory assessments and make recommendations for treatment.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the Manitoba Association of Respiratory Therapists (MARRT) is required.
  • Experience in the management of neonatal and pediatric critical care is preferred.
  • Knowledge of critical care ventilators, including High Frequency devices, is required.
  • Knowledge of home ventilatory assistive devices, such as Trilogy ventilators and NPPV devices, is preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines and demonstrate professional judgment and initiative.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and may be exposed to infectious diseases, blood, and body fluids. The ability to lift heavy medical equipment and push wheeled medical equipment is also required.
