About the Role

The Abbotsford School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Middle School Teacher - Inclusive Education Specialist to join our team. As an Inclusive Education Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting students with diverse needs and providing a world-class educational experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement inclusive education programs and strategies to support students with diverse needs
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to provide individualized support and accommodations for students
  • Provide training and professional development to teachers and staff on inclusive education practices
  • Assess and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with diverse needs
  • Work closely with parents and guardians to ensure student success and well-being
Requirements
  • Major/minor or diploma in Inclusive Education (aka Special Education)
  • Practicum and/or work experience in Inclusive Education at the Middle School level
  • Case management experience required
  • Training and experience with Level B Assessments (ie. KBIT2/KTEA III)
  • Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

  • Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment
  • Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics.
  • Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students' interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning
  • Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
