We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cleaner Heavy Duty to join our team at the City of Toronto. As a Cleaner Heavy Duty, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and maintain floors, stairs, and surfaces using heavy-duty cleaning equipment and materials.
- Operate floor maintenance machines, cleaning equipment, and solutions to ensure a high level of cleanliness.
- Perform various cleaning, housekeeping, and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment.
- Monitor and secure facilities, reporting any damage or vandalism to management.
- Load and unload supplies, replenish cleaning cart, and perform storekeeping duties.
- Deliver clean linen, gowns, and clothing to resident rooms, labeling and de-labeling resident clothing as needed.
- Experience in following infection control protocols and procedures.
- Ability to lift, push, pull heavy items, and climb ladders.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and shifts as assigned, and work in multiple locations.
- Ability to use computers to complete work orders and create new ones.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, prepare and maintain written records, and use communication equipment.
- Ability to transport residents from their room to the dining area.
- Ability to support the Toronto Public Service values, promoting Equity, Diversity, and Respectful workplaces.
- Knowledge of Resident Centered Care, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and Waste Management Protocols.
- Knowledge of Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care guidelines.
- Maturity and aptitude for working with elderly residents.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, residents, and families.
- Strong multitasking, attention to detail, customer service, time management, and problem-solving skills.
