Job Title: Senior Advancement Officer

Join the University of Waterloo's Advancement team as a Senior Advancement Officer, where you will play a key role in building and developing the advancement pipeline for the Faculty of Mathematics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies for alumni outreach, engagement, and volunteer recruitment to enhance the impact of alumni on the Faculty of Mathematics and the University.
  • Collaborate with the Mathematics Advancement team and other faculties to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major corporate and individual donors.
  • Develop and execute fundraising plans, including proposals, reports, and stewardship materials, to secure major gifts and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Alumni Engagement Program Specialist in coordinating events, programs, and communications to engage alumni and foster a culture of philanthropy.
  • Stay informed on communication trends and platforms available to alumni locally and globally, and adapt communication pieces accordingly.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; education or training related to communication and communication strategies preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive fundraising experience in securing major gifts and volunteer recruitment and management, with a successful track record of developing and implementing strategies for major gift solicitations.
  • Experience in community/alumni engagement, with a strong understanding of the key role of a university education and the importance of attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, oral, and writing skills, with the ability to create promotional materials and proposals.
  • Proven competency in project management, multi-tasking, planning, analytical skills, and political acumen.
