Department Overview

The Redevelopment Department is tasked with overseeing the planning and execution of significant capital projects across all HHS locations. Our approach to project planning is collaborative, engaging both internal and external experts to ensure that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to established plans. We are dedicated to transforming physical spaces to enhance patient and family-centered care while fostering an environment that promotes staff excellence in education and research.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Redevelopment, the Project Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the selection of consultants, design processes, tendering, and the execution of projects valued between $200 million and $1 billion. This position is crucial for defining, organizing, and implementing all necessary deliverables and tasks to facilitate the activation and occupation of new facilities in a systematic, timely, safe, and cost-effective manner, ensuring alignment with HHS' Mission and Vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning and execution of multiple concurrent hospital facility redevelopment and new construction projects, collaborating with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee all aspects of project management, including detailed design development, tendering, bid analysis, contractor selection, and management of external contracts.
  • Provide expert guidance on construction-related matters to external partners, including general contractors, engineers, architects, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare planning and design standards.
  • Manage project communications, budgets, equipment lists, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules from initial planning through to contract completion.
  • Utilize strong leadership and change management skills to drive project success.
  • Participate in project-related meetings with HHS Executive Team and various stakeholders.
  • Contribute to presentations and progress reports for key stakeholders.
  • Perform quality management and other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday; daytime hours.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a health-related field, design, architecture, or engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a project manager.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) designation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Ministry of Health capital planning processes is essential.
  • Experience leading complex healthcare or research projects with a solid understanding of hospital operations.
  • Prior experience in P3, DBFM, or AFP hospital operations planning is preferred.
  • Proven track record in change management and risk mitigation.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
