Accounts Payable Specialist

The Accounts Payable Specialist will report directly to the Assistant Controller and be responsible for acquiring and processing invoices and expense claims, arranging payments to vendors and/or customers.
Key Responsibilities- Process vendor invoices against received and accepted inventory
- Review employee expense claims for accuracy and compliance, ensuring payment is made through payroll in a timely manner
- Reconcile and process corporate American Express travel account monthly
- Maintain and reconcile a Return to Vendor listing and analyze aging items, working with Supply Chain to determine a course of action
- Assist with month-end processes, including maintaining Accounts Payable subledger and reconciling Accounts Payable suspense accounts
- Prepare and submit wire requests and update ledger with adjustments
- Clear receipts related to purchase orders paid for by credit cards and update ledger with adjustments
- Maintain vendor files and communicate status of payments as required
- Possession of a Diploma in Business Administration with a focus in accounting from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent years of experience
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an accounts payable function
- Experience working with an integrated accounting software
- Demonstrated financial analysis skills are required
- Excellent communication, customer service, and time management skills
- Effective team player with highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to interface well with people of different disciplines and levels
