Job Title: English Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified English teacher to join our team at the Delores D. Echum Composite School. As an English teacher, you will be responsible for teaching English to students in Grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English education and experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach English to students in Grades 7-12
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of all students
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching practices

Requirements:

  • Current registration and in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
  • Minimum Bachelor of Education Degree
  • Qualifications in Secondary English
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a professional team
  • Ability to adapt curriculum to meet a range of learning styles and abilities
  • Ability to deliver appropriate Individual Education Plans within the classroom
  • Willingness to be flexible in teaching assignments
  • Willingness to live in an isolated community and participate as a member of the community
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to the traditions and aspirations of First Nations people and experience in working in a multicultural setting
