The Senior Manager is responsible for executing Hedging Strategies in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), ensuring that the Bank's derivatives qualify for hedge accounting treatment. This role is crucial in mitigating earnings volatility and enhancing the value of various business lines. The position offers a unique opportunity to deepen your expertise in financial systems, technical accounting, and a diverse range of financial products, valuations, analyses, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison among various stakeholders, including business partners, control functions, technology teams, and Derivative Hedge Qualification, focusing on delivering impactful system enhancements and upgrades.
- Collaborate closely with IT support for the Hedge Accounting & Qualification System (HAQS) and other IT departments to ensure that any proposed modifications do not negatively affect hedge qualification and P&L stability.
- Oversee comprehensive testing and implementation of all system changes to maintain existing functionality and performance.
- Guide direct reports in managing JIRA tasks related to HAQS, including issue resolution, functional enhancements, and project reviews.
- Coordinate multiple initiatives and projects from a systems perspective, adapting HAQS to accommodate changes from upstream and downstream systems or market-driven modifications.
- Lead efforts in smart automation, including EUC automation and system-related controls like access management.
- Manage and mentor direct reports by setting performance goals, defining roles and expectations, and providing constructive feedback and training for their professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Strong leadership qualities, with a focus on motivation, coaching, and collaboration; excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills are essential.
- Proactive and innovative mindset, with a proven ability to prioritize and manage competing demands effectively.
- Detail-oriented with a strong capacity to analyze and document complex systems.
- In-depth knowledge of hedge accounting, finance, and various financial products, including derivatives.
- A post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Computer Science, along with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with the Bank's operations, procedures, and tools such as HAQS, PEAK, JIRA, PeopleSoft EGL, OBI, Excel, and PowerPoint.
