**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Community Health Registered Nurse to join our team at NL Health Services. As a Community Health Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing professional community health nursing services to individuals and communities in our region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care and support to clients in their homes, schools, clinics, and other community settings.
- Assess community health needs and develop, implement, and evaluate community health nursing programs and healthy public policy in a population health framework.
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to manage, follow up, and evaluate clients' plans of care.
- Provide diabetes education and support to clients and families who are using insulin pumps.
- Act as a resource to staff and provide support and information on diabetic education, management, and prevention.
- Participate in research, committees, program-related activities, and policy development as required.
- Assist in the orientation of new personnel and act as a preceptor for students.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and submit reports and statistics as required.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required.
- Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required.
- Graduation from an approved Bachelor of Nursing degree program is preferred.
- CNA certification is an asset.
- Current CPR is required.
- Minimum of three years clinical experience in nursing; one year of Community Health Nursing (Home and Community Care and/or Public Health) experience is preferred.
- Certification as a diabetes educator, completion of a Diabetes education program with willingness to complete exams when eligible, or a willingness to start a Diabetes education program within 6 months and work towards certification is required.
- Preference will be given to applicants with the Canadian Diabetes Education certificate.
- Maintain Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification during employment.
- Breastfeeding education/course is required.
- Wound care management course completed or willingness to complete in a timeframe identified by the employer is required.
- A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver license and access to a private vehicle is a condition of employment.
- Applicants must also be prepared to demonstrate an ability to be self-directed and exercise independent nursing judgment in a community-based environment with limited supervision.
- Experience working within an interdisciplinary team; with program development and implementation, client teaching, and knowledge of adult learning principles is an asset.
