Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist I to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team at BC Children's Hospital. As a critical care specialist, you will provide expert respiratory therapy care to critically ill children, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory therapy care to pediatric patients in the PICU, including ventilation management, oxygen therapy, and airway management.
- Collaborate with the PICU team to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care.
- Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring optimal function and safety.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, providing education and support to promote patient understanding and engagement.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
- Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination.
- Current and continuing registration with British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT).
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a pediatric intensive care unit or similar critical care environment.
- Knowledge of pediatric respiratory care and critical care principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain a high level of productivity in a dynamic environment.
