Position Overview:The Oilsands Business Unit at Pembina Pipeline Corporation is actively seeking a Pipeline Operator. Reporting to the Day Foreman and based in the Sherwood Park office, the Pipeline Operator will undertake a range of operational and maintenance responsibilities related to pipeline systems.
Pembina's Oilsands Unit is recognized as one of Canada's foremost operators in the oil sands and heavy oil pipeline sector, managing one of the largest merchant terminal operations in Western Canada. This combination of assets enables us to provide long-term, dedicated transportation solutions to our clients.
- Promote Pembina's safety ethos of 'Zero by Choice' and adhere to the 'Life Saving Rules'.
- Execute tasks safely, efficiently, and with environmental consciousness, in line with company and industry safety standards.
- Oversee daily pipeline operations, including measurement protocols, product quality assurance, facility inspections, pipeline integrity assessments, and pigging operations.
- Assist in and conduct pipeline maintenance tasks.
- Address pipeline system disturbances, identify causes, and implement resolutions.
- Coordinate and manage contractors as necessary, supervising both routine and non-routine maintenance tasks.
- Engage with the public and other industry stakeholders.
- Ensure pump stations, block valve sites, and company vehicles are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Be prepared to work out of town for project assignments and adapt to schedule modifications as needed.
- Participate in an on-call rotation related to job responsibilities.
- Contribute to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (pipeline, gas plant, refinery, or production).
- Experience with ground disturbance and underground facility locating is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret pipeline-related construction drawings, schematics, and alignment diagrams.
- Strong collaborative skills with excellent organizational and attention-to-detail capabilities.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
- Flexibility in meeting ongoing demands.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Familiarity with SAP is a plus.
This position is classified as 'Safety Sensitive' and will necessitate Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing, including testing for marijuana metabolites. A Driver's Abstract may also be required.
Successful candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks, including a Criminal Record Check.
