We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Physics—a seasoned programmer with extensive applied research expertise in simulation technologies—to contribute to the evolution of real-time simulation, delivering exceptional experiences for our players.

You will excel in devising innovative solutions to intricate real-time physics challenges, balancing quality with performance. Your mastery of real-time rigid body simulation will be complemented by your understanding of its constraints, and you will bring fresh ideas for enhancement. You are eager to investigate new simulation methodologies for dynamic and adaptable environments. Your contributions may include speaking at industry conferences, publishing research papers, or developing acclaimed games.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and implement innovative solutions to complex real-time physics challenges, enhancing EA's competitive edge.
  • Investigate and develop new physics and simulation technologies applicable to gaming.
  • Create demonstrations that highlight groundbreaking applications of physics techniques.
  • Facilitate the transition of novel physics technologies from research to practical applications in collaboration with game development teams and technology divisions.
  • Engage with fellow developers at SEED on projects where your specialized knowledge can drive innovation across various initiatives.
  • Work alongside game teams and technology groups to better understand their needs and provide expertise in intersecting areas.
  • Disseminate your work through publications, open-source contributions, and presentations at industry events.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in computer science, physics, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in game physics, engine or middleware development, or applied research in a pertinent field.
  • Advanced knowledge of real-time physics and game development.
  • Experience in researching and optimizing for various platforms, focusing on concurrency, memory management, and performance in the context of real-time physics.
  • Familiarity with game engines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, engaging with researchers, engineers, artists, and designers.
  • Willingness to travel for industry conferences and collaborate with teams across various locations.
  • A passion for video games.
  • Publications, presentations, or related contributions in physics or a relevant field are a plus.
