POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to an AME-E Shift Lead, the Licensed AME-E serves as a certified Avionics Technician responsible for executing both line and heavy maintenance tasks. This includes the installation, inspection, testing, adjustment, and repair of avionics systems and associated wiring on aircraft, ensuring safety and efficiency in all operations. This role is based out of our Kelowna (YLW) facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The AME-E is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas with varying levels of supervision:

Technical Expertise

  • Possess a solid understanding of aircraft systems, including autoflight, navigation, communication, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct basic inspection tasks, including EWIS inspections per Service Bulletins and ADs, and assess electrical and electronic components to diagnose issues.
  • Perform aircraft modifications with minimal assistance, ensuring compliance with documentation such as Service Bulletins and Aircraft Maintenance Manuals.
  • Execute general installation, testing, adjustment, and repair of avionics systems, utilizing appropriate documentation for guidance.
  • Sign off on personal work and the work of others when qualified.
  • Safely operate all ground support equipment.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, and other maintenance personnel.
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently and take ownership of work quality.
  • Ensure installations are carried out with minimal rework.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation for personal work, submitting it for necessary approvals.
  • Source required technical information from maintenance manuals promptly.
  • Adhere to M3 processes and procedures accurately.

Safety Practices

Uphold safe work practices in all job functions, including:

  • Utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Applying the Risk Management System effectively.
  • Understanding and following Health & Safety Policies.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in work areas.
  • Practicing safe handling procedures with aircraft.
  • Implementing Lock Out/Tag Out protocols.

Mentorship

The AME-E will leverage their technical knowledge to mentor apprentices in Technical, Safety, and Documentation practices by:

  • Communicating essential information and assessing understanding.
  • Being approachable for questions and guidance.
  • Serving as a resource for company information.
  • Demonstrating professional conduct and a customer-oriented approach.

Tool Management

  • Comply with the KF Tool Control policy as outlined in the Production Manual.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification & Experience

  • AME-E Transport Canada license (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Avionics AME.
  • Radio Operator License.
  • Potential requirement to obtain Ground Operating License (AVOP's).
