A Challenging Opportunity for a Seasoned Underwriter
About the RoleThis is a unique opportunity for a skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at DGA Careers. As a key member of our Commercial Lines team, you will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating applications to determine risk and extend coverage.
Key Responsibilities- Risk Assessment and Analysis: Utilize your expertise to analyze risk for new and existing business, gathering insights into loss exposure and preparing quotes and negotiating coverages to offer creative solutions that benefit all stakeholders.
- Collaboration and Partnership: Partner with business units to create applicable rating worksheets and manuscript wording, reviewing risk engineering reports to actively monitor progress and achieve goals.
- Team Leadership and Development: Guide and advise team members to develop a team-oriented approach, maintaining positive and mutually beneficial relationships with client groups and stakeholders.
- Service Improvement: Obtain quality of service information from distribution partners to contribute to the development and implementation of improved services.
- Experience: Seven years of experience in Commercial Underwriting.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications: Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designations.
- Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of underwriting practices, insurance products, and competitor landscape.
- Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
- Client Interaction: Direct contact with clients and/or service providers in their environment.
- Work Schedule: Extended work hours, including weekends, may be required during peak periods.
