About the Role

This is a unique opportunity for a skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at DGA Careers. As a key member of our Commercial Lines team, you will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating applications to determine risk and extend coverage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Assessment and Analysis: Utilize your expertise to analyze risk for new and existing business, gathering insights into loss exposure and preparing quotes and negotiating coverages to offer creative solutions that benefit all stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Partner with business units to create applicable rating worksheets and manuscript wording, reviewing risk engineering reports to actively monitor progress and achieve goals.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Guide and advise team members to develop a team-oriented approach, maintaining positive and mutually beneficial relationships with client groups and stakeholders.
  • Service Improvement: Obtain quality of service information from distribution partners to contribute to the development and implementation of improved services.
Requirements
  • Experience: Seven years of experience in Commercial Underwriting.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designations.
  • Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of underwriting practices, insurance products, and competitor landscape.
What to Expect
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
  • Client Interaction: Direct contact with clients and/or service providers in their environment.
  • Work Schedule: Extended work hours, including weekends, may be required during peak periods.
