Intermediate Civil Engineer Opportunity

AECOM is seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineer to become a part of our expanding Environment team in Western Canada. This role offers the flexibility of hybrid work arrangements, allowing you to operate from a local office while contributing to significant projects.
We are currently engaged in a variety of large-scale projects, including mine remediation, waste management, and civil design. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive mindset and be a collaborative professional with a solid technical foundation, eager to tackle intriguing challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in engineering design tasks, including:
- Creating detailed road plans and profiles.
- Utilizing Civil 3D software for water management and grading models.
- Formulating technical solutions for civil grading, site remediation, and waste management.
- Collaborating with drafting teams to produce accurate drawings.
- Supervising and guiding modeling processes and ensuring professional accountability for designs.
- Drafting documentation for design projects, including specifications and reports.
- Preparing regulatory submission documents.
- Assisting in the development of engineering applications from concept to detailed design.
- Reviewing field programs to gather necessary data for design improvements.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Mentoring junior and intermediate staff in effective communication and project management.
- Overseeing multi-disciplinary projects, including proposal development and stakeholder engagement.
- Directing junior staff in their tasks while fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Working with various AECOM teams to deliver comprehensive environmental and civil projects.
- Coordinating with clients and contractors for project success.
For those interested in project management, opportunities for training and career advancement are available, although this is not a requirement for the role.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in civil or environmental projects.
- Strong technical writing skills for detailed reports and regulatory submissions.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
- Registered Professional Engineer.
- Familiarity with National Master Specifications.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- P.Eng. registration across multiple jurisdictions.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Canada.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Over 10 years of experience in civil engineering, particularly in areas such as:
- Earthworks and grading.
- Mine closure and remediation.
- Geotechnical engineering.
