As a Senior Electrical Engineer in our mining team, you will be responsible for leading, supervising, and mentoring electrical designer level staff on all their responsibilities. You will oversee the development of design concepts, verify designer's work quality, and mentor and encourage the development of designer level staff. You will also be responsible for applying EXP's risk management practices of electrical engineering and leading the design team to produce engineering/construction documents that meet project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget.

Your Work Environment at EXP

In this role, you will be based in one of our offices in Brampton, Sudbury, North Bay, Thompson, Brampton, St John, or Thunder Bay. A typical day at EXP has in store for you:

  1. Lead and supervise electrical designer level staff on all their responsibilities.
  2. Power, PLC automation, instrumentation and control design.
  3. Oversee development of design concepts by designers and ensure proper application and execution.
  4. Verify designer's work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
  5. Mentor and encourage the development of designer level staff.
  6. Be responsible for applying EXP's risk management practices of electrical engineering.
  7. Lead the design team to produce engineering/construction documents that meet project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget.
  8. Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
  9. Encourage collaboration to seek the best solutions.
  10. Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
  11. Write studies and reports for electrical systems on projects.
  12. Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.
  13. Perform front-end loading of electrical systems for projects.
  14. Contribute to revisions of EXP's design standards and master specifications.
  15. Evaluate Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with respect to our level of risk.
  16. Edit and develop the basis of design narratives documenting the project scope.
  17. Design high, medium and low voltage AC and DC systems.
  18. Protection & Control design.
  19. Develop electrical one-lines, load lists, area classifications, etc.
  20. Participate in HAZOP, PHA, safety reviews.
What Your Experience Looks Like

Qualifications:

BS Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.

Registered Professional Engineer, Ontario.

Ten (10) years' experience in the mining industry.
