JOB OVERVIEW:
The Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is responsible for fostering a proactive quality culture within the organization. This role involves the initiation and coordination of activities to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and sustain a proactive quality culture across the organization.
- Coordinate compliance activities related to environmental, health, and safety legislation.
- Oversee the financial budget for the department.
- Provide strategic advice to senior management on critical EHS issues.
- Establish and implement management programs and procedures, ensuring effective follow-up.
- Design and manage comprehensive audit programs to guarantee compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Co-chair the Health and Safety Committee, promoting a culture of safety.
- Maintain and coordinate the facility's fire safety plan and first aid program.
- Develop and implement a spills response plan and assemble a response team.
- Coordinate emergency response plans to ensure preparedness.
- Design, deliver, and assess training programs for staff.
- Lead initiatives for behavior-based safety programs.
- Represent Piramal Healthcare (Canada) in relevant industry associations.
- Collaborate with the Piramal Group on corporate programs and reporting.
- Prepare, maintain, and analyze site statistics and reports, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Provide safety resources and training materials for departmental safety meetings.
- Establish and maintain connections with external industry and government resources.
- Mentor and develop team members to enhance their professional growth.
