As a vital member of the North East Behavioural Supports Ontario (NE BSO) Team at North Bay Regional Health Centre, the full-time permanent Clinical Behaviour Response Specialist (CBRS) plays a crucial role in enhancing BSO's integrated care system. This position focuses on specialized clinical evaluation, treatment, consultation, and knowledge sharing, with an emphasis on transitional support. Operating within both hospital and community environments, this role is instrumental in advancing BSO's core principles: System Coordination & Management; Integrated Service Delivery: Intersectoral & Interdisciplinary; and Knowledgeable Care Team & Capacity Building.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct specialized clinical assessments and provide tailored treatment plans for older adults experiencing responsive behaviors related to mental health, dementia, and other neurological conditions.
  2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective service delivery and care transitions for clients and their families.
  3. Engage in knowledge exchange and capacity building initiatives to enhance the skills of care partners across various settings.
  4. Maintain a compassionate, person-centered approach in all interactions, ensuring that the values of BSO are upheld.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a human health science field is required; additional qualifications in Geriatric Mental Health or related areas are advantageous.
  2. Must hold a current professional designation in good standing with a recognized regulatory body (e.g., Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy).
  3. Three to five years of recent clinical experience working with older adults exhibiting complex behavioral challenges is essential.
  4. Completion of BSO Core Competencies training is mandatory.
  5. Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) is required.
  6. Demonstrated expertise in geriatric mental health and dementia care, with knowledge of both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
  7. Strong skills in behavioral health consultation and the ability to foster best practices in care transitions.
  8. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for effective documentation and information sharing.
  9. Commitment to quality improvement and participation in relevant research initiatives is expected.
  10. Proficiency in electronic documentation and familiarity with various digital platforms is required.
  11. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are essential.
  12. Bilingualism in English and French is required.
  13. A recent Criminal Reference Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, is mandatory.
