Manufacturing Team Leader

Saint-Gobain is seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Team Leader to join our dynamic team. This role presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality products while fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
As a Manufacturing Team Leader, you will report directly to the Production Manager and be tasked with guiding and overseeing a team engaged in the production of fibreglass insulation. Your leadership will ensure adherence to our safety, quality, and production standards, reflecting the core values of Saint-Gobain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of unionized operators and skilled craftsmen, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity.
- Manage human resources matters within your team, fostering a positive work environment.
- Delegate tasks clearly, setting expectations and deadlines for completion.
- Facilitate effective communication regarding events and issues with other shifts and management.
- Oversee the quality of shift reporting, including safety and environmental incidents.
- Ensure the safety of all team members by conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and promoting a robust safety culture.
- Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and company standards.
- Lead investigations into incidents using appropriate methodologies.
- Implement the daily production schedule, ensuring all team members operate safely and efficiently to produce quality products.
- Ensure that all quality control tests are performed to the required standards.
- Assist the team in troubleshooting issues using Continuous Improvement Problem Solving techniques.
- Engage and mentor team members, providing coaching to enhance their skills.
- Conduct regular walk-throughs of the production floor to uphold high housekeeping standards.
- Utilize software tools (Excel, SAP, MES) to complete production reports.
- Collaborate with Performance Teams to address daily operational challenges promptly.
- Identify training needs within your team and provide constructive feedback on performance.
- Promote a positive relationship between union and management, assisting in the administration of collective agreements.
- Validate working hours for your shift and manage overtime and shift coverage.
- Participate in and lead various improvement initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Duties:
- Conduct team briefings on safety and operational topics.
- Communicate effectively with other shift managers and the overall management team.
- Organize and lead daily production meetings to align team objectives.
Qualifications:
- A College Diploma in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
- 5-7 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment is advantageous.
- Exceptional interpersonal, team-building, coaching, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Familiarity with 5S and Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with SAP is a plus.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and weekends as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to wear required safety equipment.
- Capable of working 12-hour shifts, including weekends, in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Able to remain on your feet for extended periods and climb stairs as necessary.
