The Custodial Relief Technician is accountable to the Principal and is tasked with the upkeep and maintenance of the school's facilities and equipment. The individual in this role plays a crucial part in ensuring that the educational environment is kept healthy, safe, and sanitary.

Upholding these responsibilities is vital for the health, safety, and security of students, staff, and the public. This directly influences students' capacity to engage in a successful learning experience and enables teachers to deliver instruction in a conducive learning atmosphere. A clean and organized environment fosters a sense of pride among students and staff, while also promoting appropriate behaviors.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Familiarity with cleaning protocols, chemicals, products, and equipment

• Proficient in reading and comprehending labels and instructions, especially regarding the use and application of cleaning agents

• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

• Effective time management capabilities

• Good verbal communication skills

• Ability to understand the goals, objectives, and operations of the SSDEC

• Knowledge of local culture and the ability to function in a multi-cultural setting

• Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of Grade 10 along with relevant experience. Equivalent qualifications may be considered.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position is classified as a Relief role, meaning there are no fixed hours of work on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The incumbent may be called to work as needed in facilities that operate year-round.
