Vancouver Community College (VCC) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Music Diploma Instructor - Preparatory Musicianship to join our esteemed team.

As an integral part of our dynamic Skills – Music Diploma program, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the musical journey of aspiring musicians. Your expertise and enthusiasm will inspire students to develop their skills, explore diverse musical styles, and cultivate a lifelong love for music.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Instructional Excellence: Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in various music disciplines, utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies such as lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, and individual tutorials.
  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement innovative curricula that align with industry standards and student learning objectives. Prepare comprehensive teaching materials, including audio-visual resources and online content.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Conduct thorough assessments of student progress through assignments, exams, and performance evaluations. Provide constructive feedback to guide students towards continuous improvement.
  • Student Support: Offer guidance and support to students throughout their academic journey, assisting with program selection, career exploration, and personal development.
  • Resource Management: Ensure the effective utilization of classroom facilities, equipment, and materials.
  • Collaboration and Engagement: Participate actively in departmental meetings, contribute to curriculum revisions, and collaborate with colleagues to foster a vibrant learning environment.
Your Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor of Music degree (or equivalent) is required.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in a diploma program is essential.
  • Recognized expertise in specific music areas, such as Kodaly Solfege, keyboard techniques, digital and analog tools, rhythm studies, improvisation, conducting, lyric diction, and introductory music business management.
