Vale is seeking a highly skilled General Manager, Mine Planning to join our Technical Services Department in Sudbury, Ontario.

About the Role:

The General Manager, Mine Planning will be responsible for overseeing mine operations, including mine design, infrastructure/systems design, ground control, seismic risk management, ventilation, capital planning, and definition drilling. This role will also involve budget business planning, operational planning, and forecasts for Ontario Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop first principles models to support Ontario Operations budget defenses for production, headcount, fleet sizing, operating costs, and capital.
  • Provide technical oversight to growth projects (FEL) to ensure owners' technical assurance and report on monthly production and compliance to plans.
  • Ensure the capability of all direct report engineering and technical specialist staff meets the minimum expected performance level for Vale. Coach, mentor, develop the team, and oversee the Ontario MTS Engineer in Training program.
Requirements:
  • An undergraduate degree in Engineering, preferably mining, or Geology.
  • Knowledge of business planning cycles, mineral finance, EBITDA, simple and free cash flow, budget drivers, cutoff policies, underground mine design, mining engineering, scheduling, and high-level understanding of underground mining activities.
  • Working experience with engineering planning software such as Deswik.
  • Working knowledge of mining standards, guidance documents, and Ontario Regulations.
