Job Title: Drafting Coordinator

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Drafting Coordinator to join our design team at the Taggart Group of Companies. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for obtaining permits, preparing working drawings, and providing support in the delivery of our housing projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • **Design and Drafting:** Operate computer-assisted design and drafting software for a variety of house types and projects.
  • **Permit Coordination:** Coordinate permit application with relevant authorities, including submission, tracking deadlines, and delivery. Maintain permit schedule, tracking dates and following up.
  • **Drawing Preparation:** Develop and prepare residential working drawings from sketches.
  • **Documentation:** Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets.
  • **Site Planning:** Create site plans, consolidate information on grading, surveys, utilities, and other important construction information.
  • **City Permit Applications:** Compile information for city permit applications, liaise with the City and follow up when necessary, tracking permits to ensure deadlines are met.
  • **Cash Flow Management:** Manage cheque requests from the City and provide up-to-date cash flow charts to the finance team.
  • **Construction Support:** Provide construction sites with permits and working drawings in a timely fashion as required.
  • **Design Review:** Review drawings for homes, and bring them up to full working drawings.
  • **Design Verification:** Check and verify design drawings to conform to suppliers' specifications.
  • **Customer Design Changes:** Review customer design change requests, organize and prepare detailed notes for reviewing these changes with the appropriate consultants. Follow up and ensure timely delivery of this process.
  • **Documentation Management:** Effectively coordinate all documentation for construction while maintaining accurate records and files.
  • **Industry Knowledge:** Remain current with subdivision developments and amenities, and changes to the legal environment in new home construction industry.
  • **Confidentiality:** Respect and protect the privacy of home buyers, including but not limited to their right to independence, autonomy, and self-determination, their right to choose and practice individual values, beliefs, religion, and culture, and their right to privacy and dignity.
  • **Administrative Support:** Perform clerical duties and records management on an as-needed basis.

Requirements:

  • **Education:** A diploma in an Architectural Technology or Technician program is required.
  • **Software Skills:** Experience with AutoCAD and Revit design programs is required.
  • **Industry Experience:** Prior work experience in drafting, specifically in residential home building is considered an asset.
  • **Years of Experience:** A minimum of - years' experience is preferred, however recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • **Ontario Building Code:** Experience using Ontario Building Code (OBC) Part.
  • **Technical Skills:** Able to read and understand structural (floor and truss layouts), mechanical, and electrical design.
  • **Logical Reasoning:** Sound technical background with logical deductive reasoning.
  • **Transportation:** Valid driver's license and access to vehicle, travel for work to remote locations is considered an asset.
  • **Communication:** Strong communication skills, both written and oral in English is required, French is considered an asset.
  • **Software Proficiency:** Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • **Organizational Skills:** Strong organizational skills, and ability to effectively plan and organize work.
  • **Teamwork:** Ability to work in a team environment, and to work independently using initiative.
  • **Attention to Detail:** Excellent attention to detail for file and data management is important in this role.
