About the Role

AECOM's Environment team is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Scientist to support the implementation of a landmark remediation project in Canada.

This is a full-time role based out of the Pickering Office, with the majority of time spent conducting field and reporting activities. As an Environmental Scientist, you will be part of our growing team, using your skills to support the Remediation Verification program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Tasks:
    • Monitor excavations, including scanning and sampling completed excavations and characterizing soils.
    • Check and maintain a range of equipment, such as radiological instruments, GPS, and XRF.
    • Assist in the resolution of issues and assess whether more or less remediation is required.
    • Conduct general field inspections and field surveys.
    • Provide construction/remediation contractor field oversight and hazard assessments.
  • Office Tasks:
    • Review past information to assess gaps in information and develop a sampling plan.
    • Input data, conduct quality reviews of data (e.g. GIS), and independently prepare reports.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Environmental Geoscience, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in consulting or construction.
    • Eligibility for licensing as a Registered Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in Ontario is considered an asset.
    • Valid Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
