As a key member of the Public Policy and Government Affairs department, you will play a critical role in developing and executing Telesat's government and public affairs strategies.

Purpose of Job

Telesat Lightspeed, the world's most advanced Low Earth Orbit satellite network, is revolutionizing global connectivity. As a Senior Manager, Government and Public Affairs, you will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with government officials, regulators, and industry associations to shape policy and secure revenue backlog.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive public affairs and government relations strategies to influence decisions and advocate for Telesat's objectives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, and industry associations to shape policy and secure revenue backlog.
  • Foster collaboration with Canada's defence community to secure meaningful partnerships with the Department of National Defence, NORAD, and NATO.
  • Distill complex and technical subjects into concise and understandable messages for diverse audiences, including governments and policymakers.
  • Conduct research and analysis on government policies, programs, legislation, and regulations, providing strategic guidance to senior management on their impact to Telesat.
  • Display a strong overall business acumen, along with proficiency in relationship building, influencing, and negotiation.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a public affairs or management consulting firm or experience working in government.
  • Bilingual with strong oral and writing skills in both of Canada's official languages.
  • Strong ability to work effectively with cross-functional team members in an international environment and interface with the company's Executive Management team.
  • Comfortable engaging with and presenting to executive and CEO audiences.
