Position Overview:

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of a fleet of heavy machinery and vehicles. This role requires a thorough understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to diagnose and repair various types of equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting comprehensive inspections of trucks, trailers, and heavy machinery to assess their operational condition.
  • Utilizing computerized diagnostic tools to identify mechanical issues.
  • Making necessary adjustments and replacing defective components.
  • Repairing and restoring damaged parts of equipment.
  • Performing routine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating vehicles.
  • Servicing and repairing attachments for machinery.
  • Executing major repairs as required.
  • Collaborating with fellow mechanics and supervisors for complex issues.
  • Reporting any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to management.
  • Participating in the adherence to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance System.
  • Carrying out additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or relevant apprenticeship documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
  • Familiarity with computerized diagnostic technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, and construction machinery.
  • Possession of a minimum Class 5 driver's license.
  • CVIP certification is preferred.
  • Willingness to work after hours if necessary.
  • Strong communication skills.
