The company is engaged in significant long-term contracts in Alberta, focusing on oilfield and oil sands civil construction, alongside various infrastructure initiatives.

Role Overview

The Project Manager plays a crucial role in the planning, management, and execution of designated projects, whether they are Time and Material, Unit Price, or Lump Sum contracts. The aim is to enhance and ensure excellence across all project dimensions, including profitability, productivity, efficiency, scheduling, safety, local inclusion, equipment utilization, and client relations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the corporate safety program to uphold superior safety performance standards;
  • Assist in establishing and managing performance measurement systems to fulfill client service and contract obligations;
  • Oversee contract administration, including managing change orders, resolving disputes, conducting contract reviews, and performing annual evaluations;
  • Direct and manage all area personnel, including quality control staff, environmental specialists, safety advisors, and administrative support;
  • Collaborate closely with site superintendents and field supervisors to meet project objectives;
  • Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards for all company and subcontractor operations while addressing any identified risks;
  • Identify and coordinate project activities to maximize resource utilization while adhering to budgetary and scheduling constraints;
  • Maintain the application of the corporate quality system, including managing Requests for Information;
  • Address issues as they arise with both internal and external clients while fostering positive working relationships;
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary technical training complemented by experience in the civil construction sector;
  • A Civil Engineering Technology/Technician diploma or a Civil Engineering degree is considered an asset;
  • Proven analytical and statistical skills, with the ability to prepare and interpret budget reports;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with diverse groups, including employees, clients, and stakeholders;
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, or similar software applications;
  • Capability to manage substantial workloads with competing priorities;
  • Willingness to travel, typically working extended hours based on site/client needs;
  • The ideal candidate will be based in Alberta, with the expectation of primarily working on-site in a rotational shift schedule.
