We believe in sharing our innovations with the community, as demonstrated by our open-source projects like Envoy Proxy.
Role Overview: As a member of the Observability team, you will oversee the functionality and upkeep of our logging and metrics systems. Your role is crucial in ensuring that all Lyft teams have insight into the operational status of their products by monitoring system performance. Your support will empower our partners to create robust, large-scale distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and maintain metrics from operating systems, control planes, and applications to facilitate fault detection and enhance performance.
- Develop and refine tools and systems that improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our platform.
- Assist engineering teams in establishing service-level objectives (SLOs) and provide necessary tools to balance development speed and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to enhance Lyft's observability, ensuring alignment with design, production readiness reviews, platform management, and capacity planning.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure operations processes and insights.
- Participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents, and support teams in mitigating customer-impacting events.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, automation, and systems engineering.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proficient in writing production-ready code in high-level languages such as Go or Python.
- Experience managing infrastructure in public cloud environments, particularly AWS, and familiarity with Managed Services.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and managing multi-cluster environments in production.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and logging systems such as Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, and Telegraph.
Benefits:
- Comprehensive health and dental coverage options, including life insurance and disability benefits.
- Mental health support.
- Family building assistance.
- Access to a Health Care Savings Account.
- Generous paid time off policy, including 15 days of paid time off, with an additional day for each year of service.
- Four Floating Holidays each calendar year, prorated based on the date of hire.
- Ten paid sick days annually.
- Eighteen weeks of paid parental leave for all eligible parents.
Diversity and Inclusion: Lyft is committed to building a diverse workforce and providing equal employment opportunities without discrimination. We strive for a safe and healthy workplace and prohibit harassment of any kind. Accommodations for individuals with disabilities will be provided upon request during the application and hiring process.
Work Schedule: This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office attendance three days a week, with flexibility to work remotely for up to four weeks per year.
